Later Edit / Foarte important: a fost iniţial o propunere a Ofeliei, iar astăzi m-a sunat toată ziua Violeta Ion să mă consulte legat de acelaşi lucru: ce spuneţi de o seară de poezie pt. Marin Mincu, de pildă la Sala Oglinzilor, înaintea zilei în care va fi înmormântat? Să fie luni, între 20:00-21:00?

… ultima oară am vorbit la Euridice… nici nu-mi amintesc în această secundă cine a citit la cenaclu acum 2-3 săptămâni, dar mi-a vorbit în pauză cât se poate de viu despre cum i-a debutat, dintre tineri, pe Dumitru Crudu, pe Nina Vasile (prin care aveam să-l cunosc, prin 2001), încă dinainte de 2000, mi-a vorbit cu o memorie culturală vie despre poezia de azi şi dintotdeauna. l-am mai văzut la Gudeamus, când şi-a lansat cartea de poezie. nu i-am auzit vocea atunci, n-am rămas până la capăt, dar nici nu era cazul: părea în mare formă şi din privirea lui mi-am dat seama că ne invită pe toţi la Euridice. se subînţelegea că avem să ne vedem miercuri la cenaclu. eu m-am dus, el era deja la Elias. Ofelia şi Gabriela au vrut să meargă la el şi să-i citească poezii în acea seară, dar mi-am spus: vor mai fi atâtea ocazii! am aflat astăzi că după 3 zile de comă la spitalul Elias, în urma unui atac cerebral, a plecat şi mai departe: către ceruri. telefonul a sunat spre seară, am primit acum o confirmare şi pe e-mail…

nu mă voi duce să îl conduc pe ultimul drum pământean. îmi cer scuze, dar nu pot conduce pe ultimul drum UN OM VIU.

The Nobel Prize in Literature goes to Herta Müller “who, with the concentration of poetry and the frankness of prose, depicts the landscape of the dispossessed”.

Herta Müller was born on August 17, 1953 in Banat, Romania. From 1973 to 1976, Müller studied at the university in Timişoara. During this period, she was associated with Aktionsgruppe Banat, a circle of young German-speaking authors who, in opposition to Ceauşescu’s dictatorship, sought freedom of speech. After completing her studies, she worked as a translator at a machine factory from 1977 to 1979. She was dismissed when she refused to be an informant for the secret police. After her dismissal, she was harassed by Securitate.

Müller made her debut with the collection of short stories Niederungen (1982), which was censored in Romania. Two years later, she published the uncensored version in Germany and, in the same year, Drückender Tango in Romania. In these two works, Müller depicts life in a small, German-speaking village and the corruption, intolerance and repression to be found there. Because Müller had publicly criticized the dictatorship in Romania, she was prohibited from publishing in her own country. In 1987, Müller emigrated together with her husband, author Richard Wagner.

The novels Der Fuchs war damals schon der Jäger (1992), Herztier (1994; The Land of Green Plums, 1996) and Heute wär ich mir lieber nicht begegnet (1997; The Appointment, 2001) give, with chiselled details, a portrait of daily life in a stagnated dictatorship. Müller has given guest lectures at universities, colleges and other venues in Paderborn, Warwick, Hamburg, Swansea, Gainsville (Florida), Kassel, Göttingen, Tübingen and Zürich among other places. She lives in Berlin.

Herta Muller, scriitoare nascuta in 1953 intr-un sat din Banat, a cistigat Premiul Nobel pentru Literatura. Herta Muller a emigrat in Germania, in 1987. In prezent locuieste la Berlin. Cartile sale sint traduse in peste 20 de limbi.
Juriul si-a motivat decizia prin “densitatea poeziei si sinceritatea prozei cu care a descris plastic universul dezmostenitilor”.
